CleanBox ("we", "our", "us") is an AI-powered email productivity tool designed to help you clean, organize, and summarize your Gmail inbox safely. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices and your rights regarding the information we collect through our services.
1. Google API Limited Use Disclosure
CleanBox's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Our app strictly follows these requirements:
- No Human Reading: No humans at CleanBox read your email data unless you provide explicit consent for troubleshooting.
- No Advertising: Your data is never used for advertising purposes.
- No Model Training: We do not use your personal email content to train generalized AI models.
- No Data Selling: We never sell, rent, or share your personal or email metadata with third parties. Your email metadata (sender information, subject lines, timestamps) is never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties. This is a core commitment of our service and is essential for CASA compliance.
2. Information We Collect
We only request the minimum permissions (OAuth scopes) necessary to provide our features:
Google Account Data
Name, email address, and profile photo to identify your account.
Gmail Scopes (gmail.modify)
This allows us to read headers, summarize content, and perform actions you request, such as archiving, labeling, or deleting junk mail.
Calendar Scopes (calendar.readonly)
This is used to provide context for your inbox (e.g., showing upcoming meetings) to prevent the accidental deletion of important event-related emails.

3. One-Click Unsubscribe Feature
CleanBox Pro includes a "One-Click Unsubscribe" feature that automatically processes unsubscribe requests on your behalf.
- Automatic HTTP Requests: When you use the One-Click Unsubscribe feature, CleanBox performs HTTP requests to List-Unsubscribe URLs on your behalf. These requests are sent directly to the sender's unsubscribe endpoint to complete the unsubscribe process automatically.
- User Control: This feature is only available to Pro subscribers and requires your explicit selection of newsletters to unsubscribe from. You can review and select which newsletters to unsubscribe from before the action is performed.
- Manual Alternative: If you prefer to handle unsubscribes manually, you can use the "Manual Unsubscribe" option, which opens unsubscribe links in your browser for you to complete.
- No Unauthorized Actions: CleanBox only performs unsubscribe requests for newsletters you explicitly select. We never automatically unsubscribe you from any senders without your consent.
4. AI Data Handling & Zero Retention
CleanBox uses advanced AI (such as Google Gemini) to provide summaries and categorization.
- Temporary Processing: Email content is processed in memory only.
- Zero Retention: We have "Zero Retention" configurations with our AI providers. Your email body text is deleted immediately after the AI task (like summarization) is completed.
- Privacy First: Your data is never stored on our servers in a way that allows us or our providers to "learn" from your private messages.
5. Data Security
We protect your data using industry-standard security measures:
Encryption
All data is encrypted using AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit.
OAuth Security
We use Google OAuth 2.0. We never see or store your Google password.
Access Revocation
You can revoke CleanBox's access to your data at any time via your Google Security Settings.
6. Third-Party Sub-Processors
We use trusted infrastructure providers to operate:
- Google Cloud / Firebase: For hosting and database security.
- Google Gemini API: For AI-powered summaries (strictly under Zero-Retention terms).
- Stripe: For secure payment processing (if applicable).
7. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You have the right to access, export, or delete your data. Deleting your CleanBox account will immediately purge all metadata associated with your account from our database.
